Bob Dylan has been playing jokes on us for years. Since the start of his inception into the world of musical geniuses, he’s been toying with the emotions of those who idealize him, and glorify his poetics at some sort of religion. And the punch line of this ongoing joke is that the man can do no wrong. He’s lied about his past, copied the artwork of others, and given us increasingly inaudible performances, but all these acts are dismissed as “the ongoing mystery of Dylan.”
Add another one to the list. This newly released music video for “Duquesne Whistle”, off his latest album. There’s a love story, a stalking aspect, a kidnapping…and Dylan.
