Israel at war…social media ablaze

We don’t need to take sides in the recent conflict between Hamas and Israel. Actually, screw it. Though always on the side of peace, in a battle between westernized democracy and extremists, we’ll take the prior.

So much for objective journalism.

But what is “objective” is the unanimous praise for Israel’s killer social media strategy.

Dueling with the folks over in Gaza, Israel has decided to use Twitter, YouTube and Facebook as a means to reaffirm their transparency. Whether striking a target in Gaza, or absorbing a rocket in the south, all captured footage and facts are sent out to the social-sphere. Hamas on the other hand is insistent on spending their 140 characters on heartfelt martyrdom, letting followers know that Israel has “opened the gates of hell!”

We’re having a fun time following the action from the confines of our desktops, but in all seriousness, we hope this “mishegas” ends soon.
